Welcome to the Machine

Welcome to the Machine like the last episode seems to run together. when the Black Tapes is here to tell a story it doesn't bother itself with self contained story arcs. Overall I really enjoyed the episode they went into detail about the "Exocism Machine" this strange black monolithic device that combines science and religion for some synergistic purpose, The Sagamore and (Finally) The Boy in the River.

Personally I'm glad they decided to come back to the Sagamore, like the Exocism episode using the second season to reference the first is a great way to bring the series closer together while also giving a reason to relisten to old episodes it brings the story into context.  I also really enjoyed the Paranormal Researcher that they brought in. It showed a more rational side to the field away from the more "esoteric" paranormal investigators. I also liked how she was a foil to Strand that a person can be rational without kneejerkingly Skeptic. That there is a reason ghosts don'e exist besides "You're crazy and easily susceptible to suggestion" sorry I meant to say apophenia. The Sagamore and the Elevator Incident was interesting it was like a mini black tape that also providing some interesting if circumstantial information, adding a couple more clues to the puzzle. And Finally we finally learn about the boy in the river. The Cliffhanger leaves us with a signature Spoopy antidote and quite the bombshell. I'll say one thing Welcome to the Machine is definitely taking some shots at Strand.
