Super Cat Bros | Platformer is the "purr"fect fit for mobile.

"Super Cat Bros, (Super Cat Tales for IOS) is a 2D Platformer developed by Neutronized and published by FDG Mobile Games. It is available on Android and IOS"

One of challenges of mobile gaming is considering the difference in input from a touchscreen as opposed to traditional analog inputs. Where consoles have the benefits of many distinct buttons all of the inputs for mobile games have to fit into a small screen that also serves as the output device because of this game developers have to be considerate into how their U.I effects gameplay*. Every Platform also has its strengths and weaknesses which tends to translate to different platforms favoring different genres, (I.E Flash not supporting true 3d animation therefore favoring 2d graphics with PnC Adventures, Runners, and Platformers.). Keeping this in mind it makes sense why many genres popular on consoles don't find their way into the mobile realm with most of the genre cross pollination being from ported flash or social games. That being said there has been more successful attempts at creating mobile versions of popular console genres in recent years, (for instance COD:Mobile success as a mobile FPS). Super Cat Bros coming out in 2016 is Neutronized answer to the platformer genre. Creating a fun, cute, and most importantly playable platformer tailor fit for mobile.

Alex, Brutus, Shinji and the rest of his cat friends were having a nice time taking an air balloon ride when a bunch of monkeys shot them down with a cannon. Oh No! Now Alex is a stranger in a strange land running, jumping, and platforming his way back to his friends. In SCB you only have two controls walking (tapping L or R) and Dashing (Double Tapping). Through these simple commands you guide your cortege of feisty felines through six different worlds each with its own boss. SCB has all the staples of traditional platformers, variety of biome themed enemies, hidden areas, collectables, npcs, and so on. One of the way it separates itself from the flotsam is its use of the special abilities of each of the cats. Of the six cats you can unlock in the game each one has a specific ability to help in your platforming adventures whether this is being able to see in the dark, (I mean all cats can do that but this one has a cute little mining helmet), to being able to glide to far off cliff faces. In terms of difficulty I can't honestly say that it holds up to the the NES platformers of yore but I can say that I died more times then I meant to giving a decent level of challenge for the casual player without being mind-numbly easy.

SCB is done in a Retro 8-bit style reminiscent of the various jumping mascots of the NES era. That being said Super Car Bros profits from the technological advancements in the industry over the years. one interesting visual feature is the use of Z-Ordering, essentially creating depth by putting the cats behind foreground elements such as grass and flowers giving an immersiveness to the world. The music is reminiscent of chiptune music and is well done. Overall SCB has a well polished game similar to the works of Nitrome.

Super Cat Bros is a fun, cutesy, platformer tailor fit for mobile gaming. If your into casual platformers or are looking for a retro style game to sate your nostalgia then look here. Meow Meow PURR.
